Shop Trading Hours
The review of the regulation of shop trading hours is complete and the Government passed the Shop Trading Act 2008 to implement the recommended reforms. The Act commenced on 1 July 2008 and de-regulates shop trading hours while restricting trading on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, the morning of Anzac Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Small shops and specified other shops are able to trade on restricted trading days.
An issues paper for the review was released in August 2007 and sixteen submissions were received.
