The Minister for Regulatory Reform, the Hon Joe Tripodi MP, was born in Sydney in 1967. After attending Westfields High School in Fairfield West, he obtained first class honours in economics at Sydney University, before working as an economist at the Reserve Bank.
Joe was 16 when he joined the Australian Labor Party. He later served as State secretary of NSW Young Labor, and worked at the NSW Labor Council as an occupational health and safety officer. In 1995, aged 27, he was elected to State Parliament as the Member for Fairfield.
Before becoming a Minister, Joe served as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, and parliamentary secretary for the Minister for Transport.
He has been the Minister for Housing, Minister for Roads, Minister for Energy and Minister for Small Business and now holds the portfolios of Finance, Infrastructure, Regulatory Reform and Ports and Waterways.
